Who among you can recall the Mayor of Spokane, Washington ? The one who was using his office as bait to troll on the internet for young men. As he spoke out against gays.
Until the good people of Spokane, organized and threw his lyin' Republican butt out of office.

Then came Jeff Gannon, planted in the White House press room to ask "Little Scotty Mac from Texas" softball questions ....... when Scotty needed to catch his breath. Now Jeff was a find, 2 careers, stooge reporter, and Male Prostitute !

I want to thank the "Party of Family Values" for having Rep. Mark Foley [R] Fla. "Champion OF the Rights of Children" keep a close eye on our congressional pages. While the Republican Leadership held his coat.

Rep. Foley could have called Ted Haggert for consul, but he was in Denver in a motel room with a Male Prositute ..... "Speedin' His Young Life Away".

Now it's time to enter a new entry in our history.
It seems that Ann Coulter, that skinny butcher knife of the right, has used that expensive Conn. Prep School education ......To make an joke, that in an 8th grade hallway would get a high-five. When she was at that gig, she posed with young man , who David Horwitz has been dragging around telling everyone how mean colleges are the right.

Because they "Support the Troops" this guy is a Sgt. It doesn't get any better than this .... a threefer.
Sgt., Student, and Male Prostitute !

Then, to rescue the day .... WE have Newt get a confession from Dr, Dobson for adultery ! And just like Bill Clinton, who's sex life the Republican Party still is fixated on ....... Newt's lover was a Federal Employee. Will we get a refund from Newt for "working" on the clock. I paid the salary of the woman while she gave Newt a B.J.
Newt's a history guy, you know he got a B.J. in the Capital, if he didn't then I'm a Texas Polar Bear.
He better have, or he's not much of a man.

In closing, as we start the 08' bid for the brass ring, the top 4 Republican challengers ...... 2 who are adulterers ....... have had 9 wives. The mormon is the only one that's just had one marriage.

Tell us all about "Family Values" in 08'. By then then newest Washington Madame may have put out her phone records. She started up her business in 93' with the "Republican Revolution."
Dr. Dobson may be very busy around then.

Please sic Sean Hannity on me, his smilin' face with all the hookers at the Bunny Ranch in Nevada are here on the Vine. Look under "Manufactured Outrage"

Jay -- That video made me sick. Like those jerks on the video are going to say they can't get their wives to... well you know.

Bob -- Well, this was quite humorous, but don't you think this could possibly add to the division between the parties. I fully believe we need to hold them accountable for what they say and do, I just don't know if this will perpetuate the problem. Well, who knows, but I did laugh though.

    Nice article, Bob.

You know, it is really easy to point an laugh at these guys because of the hypocrisy. I'm wondering though, if the criticism continues, does the Left run the risk becoming hypocrites themselves? Are you calling them out on the hypocrisy or the lack of Dobbs-style "family values?" Either way, Bob, the Left has also been guilty of the same transgressions.

My advice is this: Let's stick to the real issues and get something done, or call them all out on their hypocrisy AND/OR lack of morality.

Good point. If they want to raise an issue based on family values though, it's only fair to point out their own failure to meet the standard they campaign on.

But in the end they're just people, on both sides. Lying, scumbag, abhorrent, people. Seemingly without exception.

    Isn't politics fun?

The greater irony is that we try to hold one party higher on matters of integrity when history is full of deceitful, sex crazed politicians looking after their own best interests.

That this is another study of the GOP at best gives us a useful sampling of America's elected officials.

I gotta disagree with ya there Top. It's the Republican party and it's politicians that put themselves on that pedestal of higher integrity... all in the name of securing the Christian Right vote. With mantras like "the party of family values"... and "the party of Christian values"... For too many years now the Christian right has derided liberals as godless heathens and Republican politicians were all too willing to play up to that all in the name getting their votes. The sad truth is they never were more "moral" than the godless heathens they ran against, the just claimed they were to get elected. That they put themselves on that pedestal and still couldn't keep their zippers closed garners no sympathy from me. If you don't want to get knocked off the moral "high ground" don't try and claim it was your in the first place....

The thieves and liars want you to think that there is no alternative to thieves and liars in office, so they tell you that every politician is a thief or a liar, so you re-elect the thieves and liars, and then complain that all politicians are thieves and liars.

I find both sad truths reprehensible. The dangers in celebrating the demise of the deceitfully "moral" leaders, is when we use their examples for an excuse to lower our political standards, or attempt to claim the moral high ground by listing everyone elses failures.

The world is always in need of better leaders.

I thought liberals were supposed to be compassionate and understanding. Always progressive and never criticizing other people's lifestyles. What happened here? Calling out someone for expressing their freedom. Come on, let's stop looking at parties and start debating the real issues that concern us all. I believe that America would be a much better place if everyone just became independent and started looking at what each politician stands for rather than what party they belong to.

Their party may not be everything politicians stand for, but it is a big part of it.

When Republicans go bad, they are living up to the values of their party. When Democrats go bad, they are letting them down.

Okay we've settled it, Republicans are/were bad boys in Congress. Now what can us taxpayers do about it? Don't get me wrong, it burns me up to see Republicans prey on Christians with a moral bend (and look how they bought it hook, line and sinker) but I just feel powerless.

So maybe we could start a website, radio air time or SOMETHING to let the Christian Flock know "hey, you need to think for yourself, don't be fooled by these wolves in shepherd's clothing." Whether you like it or not, the Christian Right is a POWERFUL force and is obviously interested in using that power in politics (much to my dismay. I feel they need to be using their power to feeding the poor, tending to the sick and loving the enemy).

I'm angry as the rest of you about the hypocrisy of the Right Wing (just because they say they run on a moral platform...if they said "hey we are mean nasty people" I would care less -- trust me, the first Democrat that pulls this moral mess, I'll be on the issue) however I feel that talking about it here on Newsvine, while it does SOME good, does not get the Christian Right to wake up and say "heeeey, we've been bamboozled!"

I guess the only thing I can do is vote, but sometimes I feel that all politicians are so dirty, it's not worth voting on them.

Sometimes I wonder if any of you even know anyone from the "religious right". I do. My father has been a baptist minister all of my life. During my life, he has never turned away anyone who has needed food or shelter. He visits people in jail on Thursdays, and arranged Christmas presents for the inmates children. He routinely visits the sick and dying, and is the most unwaveringly good, decent, and charitable person I have ever met. These are the virtues he preaches to the church.

Hatred has absolutely no place in the church, and baptists are some of the most fundamental Christians you will ever find. Are you telling me that this sort of example is isolated?

Yes, he votes Republican, but he hasn't been "bamboozled". He, and people like him, vote Republican not because they think that Republicans are inherently better people, but because they legitimately believe that morality and family values are necessary elements for the continued success and prosperity of America.

If he thinks that the Republican party is promoting morality and family values, then he's been bamboozled. If he thinks the Democratic party is immoral and against family values, he's been bamboozled. If he thinks the Republican Party is able to promote the success and prosperity of America, he's been bamboozled. If he thinks the Democratic Party can't promote the success and prosperity of America, he's been bamboozled.

America is one of the most prosperous countries in the world, and for the majority of the last half century, the Democrats have been the dominant party. The rise to power of the Republicans has coincided with a fall in American prosperity, power, and prestige. Surely that's a coincidence.

We've seen the Republicans commitment to morality and family fvalues over the last decade. A lot of Christians are starting to pay attention to how they have been used and abused. I hope your father is paying attention, too.

        Captian Carrot,

Fair enough and I apologize for my hasty generalization. I grew up in a southern baptist environment and what I saw with pastors is that they were concerned about how big their SUV was, how many people were at Sunday Morning Worship service and sometimes the Lottie Moon offering (and don't get my started on missionaries and their materialism).

I was around conservative right wing pastors for a greater portion of my life and it seemed that materialism ruled what they did with their money. I heard, MANY TIMES, pastor saying "well if those lousy bumbs would get a job and quit sucking off my money through welfare then God would help them." How horrible!? Ever been around bumbs and people dependent on welfare....they are so confused and inundated in ignorance they know no better.

I'm not saying I'm for people staying on welfare but I am for Christians (and other people compassionate about social welfare) educated the poor and homeless and helping them get a start on a new life.

That said, these are pastors I've been exposed to in the Southeast of America and what I've seen on TV. I could be (and probably am) sadly mistaken by pastors who are Conservative and Right Wing and care about the social gospel. But from what I've seen, it's not been so.

Thanks for letting me know there are some decent pastors out there because I'd given up hope.

These are your opinions, and my interest in them can charitably be described as negligable. I disagree with nearly the totality of your comment, of course. Normally I'd avoid putting words in your moth, but your disagreement with "nearly the totality" of the comment forces me to make the conclusion that you would feel comfortable saying "Democrats are immoral and against family values, and are incapable of promoting the success and prosperity of America."

Considering that half the country votes Democrat (a surprising number even manage to have families and be successful), such an intolerant attitude *is* hateful and negative, not to mention wrong.

Fortunately, I don't think most on the religious right are quite as whacked out.

Someone name me one sex scandal since Clinton, that didn't have a [R] after the guys name.
The issues are the very reason I posted this. The simple fact is, the right-wing has been running on sex for nearly two decades. They have a record to defend, it's time to see what the score card looks like.

By my counting this page has 9 sex scandals with an [R] attached to it,
and 1 with a [D]. And I'm not counting the serial marriages.
That's a record folks. If you are gonna run on this stuff you have to defend your own behavior, and as the this post lists, it's nothing to write home to mother about.
The Republican Platform has a plank of "Family Values". and it is eatin' up by amoral termites.

Then there's Bill O' and his settlement over showers, and falafels, after first vowing to fight to the finish.

Jimmy, good catch. Who ever said politicians don't stand up for what they believe in!

Yes, the Knuppel Head Act of 1984 finally liberated the collar from decades of incarceration and conservative oppression in courts throughout the land. Leave it to a distinguished veteran to be a martyr for freedom even in the courtrooms of America, while even today corporate America languishes under the bondage of neckties.

Or was it simply that he refused to wear a tie offered by the court with a picture of Ronald Reagan on it?
